community

Community is at the beating heart of everything we do. From the workshops we run, to the free cooked meals we provide and the community events we host.

Cooking for health & wellbeing

Nutrition and cooking support – 10-week workshop

We offer cooking for health and wellbeing courses for various groups such as parents, young kids and homeless/vulnerably housed. These focus on supporting people with how to prepare affordable, healthy meals with different and affordable ingredients.

Available to people who may be experiencing food poverty, have limited access to cooking equipment or have specific nutritional needs. In addition to building skills, these workshops foster a sense of community and solidarity between our participants, peer-to-peer support and eating together.

If you would be interested in attending a free cooking course as a parent, or for any other reason, contact Marie – marie.lehri@waste2taste.co.uk

FREE COOKED MEALS

Waste2Taste has been providing healthy, home cooked meal delivery service to people experiencing food poverty. These include a range of vulnerable groups such as long-term health/disability, Low Income, Elderly, Vulnerably housed, Single Parents, Lack of Cooking Facilities, Escaping Domestic Violence.

All of our distribution takes place in OX4, with the majority of support going to the LSOAs of Blackbird Leys, Rosehill and Littlemore that our cafe lies in between.

These meals are delivered on Tuesday and Thursday by bike by an amazing group of Volunteers.

We know that providing healthy, home-cooked meals to those who are experiencing isolation, poverty and/or additional mental health strain will lead to: Improved sense of belonging across OX4’s diverse communities due to both the opportunities for communal meals as well as for volunteering at a local welcoming cafe space; More engaged volunteers able to access improved social networks and improved health and wellbeing by engaging in purposeful action within the community.

Waste2Taste is passionate about ensuring that those most in need at this time can receive the warmth, love and comfort which comes from healthy home-cooked food.
